Premiere:

“Humming” by Holiday Music

Are you looking for something to hum? Try 'Humming' by Holiday Music, a potentially ungoogleable enigma from Austin legend, Mike Hlady. The roving bass calls back hooky scalar lines of the 50's and 60's from songs like 'My Girl' by The Temptations or 'I Will Follow Him' by Little Peggy March, while projecting a subversive post-psychedelic approach not too far off from certain shades of Thee Oh Sees or Ty Segall. "Humming is about feeling small in the world and paying back debts you unknowingly owe."We all have unknowingly owed debts in our lives...if you're looking for one, consider climate change or income inequality; universal debts none of us signed up for. Damn! Holiday Music is karmic garage rock for the melodically inclined; 'Humming' releases ahead of his album Certified Ailments debuting February 20th on Philly based label, Super Wimpy Punch.

about holiday music

Holiday Music formed in Fall of 2014 by Mike Hlady who came out of Massachusetts local Indie band(s) Magic Magic and 420 Defenders. Holiday Music started as an ever evolving collaboration of Hlady’s songwriting but quickly turned into a fast, lo-fi trio. Mixing elements of ethereal synths and electronic drums with dark pop music, the band stays true to a kind of post-psych, rock -n- roll shit show. The capabilities of Holiday Music and their “sound” are quite endless. The band has since left the east coast and is now based in Austin, TX and has been since 2017.
