Melbourne-based artist Market shares new single Show It, the first single from their upcoming EP 2.  Effortlessly weaving lo-fi tape production with auto-tuned guitars and washed out synths, Show It is a  rich example of Market’s stunningly straightforward bedroom pop.

Market’s release was written and recorded in the iconic Cairo Flats, an Art Deco 1930s  residential complex in inner Melbourne, while being deeply locked down during the pandemic. Despite  the grim circumstances, the lightness of the space is reflected on the EP through its use of breezy jazz chords and cheap bright drum machines.

Speaking on Show It, Market shared; “It felt really grim being in lockdown while the Australian  government pushed through a pretty disgusting set of education policies while everyone was  distracted. The track is about boomers I guess, but more broadly about the way one can say they care  about young folks’ future while simultaneously sabotaging it to make themselves feel comfortable.”

Market, the project of Lee Hannah, is the resulting product of the artists unique history releasing  dulcet ambient pop as The Townhouses, acting as a session musician for Wafia, and producing and  performing as one half of house-tinged duo Take Your Time. While the resulting releases shaping  Lee’s past have been varied in sound, they all showcase a low-key yet stylised production and writing  style that has seen them supporting live the likes of Toro Y Moi, Japanese Wallpaper, Cosmos  Midnight and Poliça. Their debut self-titled EP released in 2019 received an unprecedented amount  of acclaim from radio stations across Australia and tastemakers with all 3 singles receiving Spotify  editorial playlisting and Bandcamp featuring Market twice on their New and Notable series.
