Hookup: “In The Morning”

Oklahoma City-based Hookup is set to release their second single of the year on Friday August 2nd. The song is sure to make it on to all your feel-good playlists and soundtrack the rest of your summer with its catchy hooks and warm vibes. You’re definitely going to want to pre-save this one.

The song came from a spontaneous trip songwriter Grayson Hamm took with his girlfriend. “The trip was unexpected because we’d only been seeing each other for a little, but we both needed to get away. I hadn’t done that with a girlfriend before, at least so early on. Overall it was great but the best days were when we’d wake up as the sun was rising, making coffee in the Airbnb and watching the natural world outside. It really helped solidify the idea that you shouldn’t hold yourself back and “wait” for the perfect moment to do something, embrace opportunities that pop up and be open to the world - experience and explore with the people you care about. I guess that’s what the song is about.”

The band has a show in support of the release at 89th St. on Monday July 29 with local group Seasonal and touring act Holy Fawn. Going to the show will get you “In The Morning” and ~possibly~ a couple demos of upcoming tracks, sent to you that night - a few days ahead of the release. Just provide an email address at the merch table.

Hookup is a coming together of several different stylistic backgrounds to form a uniquely enjoyable, alt-pop unit.

Formed in January 2019, the band blends influences spanning the spectrum of genres such as psychedelic, pop, indie, rock, emo, hiphop, & singer-songwriter. The output is catchy, hook-drenched alt pop tunes that hit you in the soul and get you moving.

The group, self-produced, is currently in the studio working on their debut full-length release - with several single releases planned for the coming months. Expect to see a lot more of Hookup in the near future.
